A Trial Instructional Flight (or TIF) is a shortened first lesson, designed so that a prospective new student has an opportunity to experience a Flight Training Lesson at a discount rate, to see whether flying is suited to them. When undertaking a TIF with the Rockhampton Aero Club, you will receive a theory brief and flight lesson with one of our professional flight instructors.
While the actual first lesson of flight training is longer than the TIF, the TIF still covers some essential theory in the classroom, such as what the controls of the aircraft are and how they operate, as well as what you can expect to see and do on your flight. Once complete, you will then proceed onto the flight component.
You will be flying with a qualified flight instructor and they will show you once again what the controls are and how they operate. You will be able to taxi the aircraft out to the runway for takeoff. Generally the instructors take the aircraft off for you before demonstrating how everything works in the air and handing the controls back over to you for the remaining 15 to 20 minutes of your flight.
If like most students, you are completely convinced flying is for you, we are able to guide you through the steps required to start Flight Training formally. If not, you are not obligated to continue any further.
We conduct TIFs every day of the week. To make an appointment, call the club office on (07) 49224596, or email us with your preferred dates and times and we contact you. We also have gift vouchers available.
