WINGS NIGHT 2008 - SATURDAY 28TH NOVEMBER
A successful evening was once again held in the Club House for the 2008 Wings Night. Congratulations go to all of the student achievers and competition winners. A special congratulations to Sara McCartney who won the inaugur
al Enzed Industries/Sea FM/Rockhampton Aero Club 2008 flying scholarship.
Our guest speaker this year was Captain Rob Swan who is a recently retired crew member with Cathay Pacific. Rob had spent his early career flying with Ansett Australia until the pilots dipute in 1989 when he took up the opportunity to move to Cathay Pacific. Rob presentation was a very informative session on the history of Cathay Pacific and a video of his last landing at Kai Tak airport in an Airbus A330, on the last day of operations. Thank you Rob for a very entertaining talk on one part of your career.
Dave Tempest once again organised a magnificent evening and deserves the thanks of every member and guest for his 
untiring effort. A special welcome to two members of the Bundaberg Aero Club who travelled up for the evening. Also a special thanks to Michael Keating for producing a very interesting promotional video in support of students choosing the Rockhampton Aero Club to fly with.
Tom Kerr was awarded a well earned "Pilot of the Year" award, having achieved his PPL, NVFR Rating, CSU Endorsement, Retractable Undercarriage Endorsement and was endorsed to fly on the Seneca and Partenavia during the year. Well done Tom.
